FIESTA FLASH January 2012 Happy New Year Kay King, Editor
From the President Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and a great send off for the New Year. It looks as though everyone is now back in the Park from their summer vacation. The Monday morning meetings are overflowing with people, some of whom are new to the Park. I want everyone to make them feel at home here. The Christmas Dinner was a success again this year and was attended by a majority of the Park. A new event this year was the BBQ Rib Cookout. Thanks to the efforts of many people, particularly Phillip Butts and Bill Wilson, that too was a success and we are looking forward to attending many more. I haven’t had to announce this for some time now but when we returned from the Holidays we found that someone is not picking up after their pets in the Park. We had to don our plastic sandwich bag and pick up after them in three different spots. Please clean up after your pet! You’ve been doing a great job in the past. Bowling is starting on the 2nd and I have found out that we are paired with the top keggler in Fiesta Village! My sources tell me that Ted Zeleski was at one time the Champion Keggler in all of Illinois. Hold the Press! My mistake!! They corrected me; he was the best Kegger in all of Illinois. On a sad side, a very good friend of the Park passed away last week. My fishing companion and good friend Earl Hillestad unexpectedly left us. He was an asset to our Park and will be sorely missed. I relied on Earl on several occasions for his expertise when I first was appointed to the Board. I’ll certainly miss him. Dennis Grover, President Christmas Thank You We want to thank each of you who participated in the Christmas Eve program in any way. The immediate positive responses of those who were asked to be onstage, as well as those who helped make it work – chair setup, sound, lights, food setup, and coffee and punch preparation were very much appreciated. And a big thank you to those who attended. A responsive audience makes the program complete. The previous Monday morning we had asked for a couple of props – before we left the hall, we had the boat we needed and it didn’t take long for Tom Bradbury to make a feedbox/manger. The manger will be offered to the decorating committee for future Christmas decorating. We wish each and every one of you a happy and blessed New Year. We will be set up before 8am, so bring them in early, if possible. Thank you in advance.
